Car Background Information
For the 2009 season the current C Class DTM generation was nine months in development, to enable the minutest details to be thoroughly revised. The basic concept was retained and AMG Mercedes concentrated primarily on aerodynamic aspects and the optimization of the engine under the removable bonnet, as shown in the model. Gary Paffet had driven in the DTM since 2003 and just 2 years later in 2005 he won the championship title. In 2009 the championship title was again within the grasp of the native Brit. However despite four overall wins and a total of 59 points, the best Mercedes pilot came in as runner-up behind Timo Scheider, but his convincing performance again secured the constructor's title for Mercedes.
